gudhjem civic- and museum association
Who are we?
The association is both a civic association for the Gudhjem-Melsted area and a museum association that communicates the history of the local area and exhibits art connected with Bornholm.
Gudhjem By- og Museumsforening is for everyone who lives permanently in the area or owns a holiday home here. Or for anyone who simply has an interest in the area. Membership provides free admission to the temporary exhibitions as well as a 10% discount when purchasing books and other items.
As a member of Gudhjem By- og Museumsforening, you can help shape the development of the Gudhjem-Melsted area and contribute to the running of the museum.
The annual general meeting is the association’s highest authority. At the meeting, the board is elected. It consists of 9 members and 2 alternates. The work is organised into two main groups: the Town Group and the Museum Group. A number of working groups have also been established under these two main groups.
All work within the association is carried out by volunteers.
Board and working groups
The association's focus areas: civic association and museum operations
Town Group
The Town Group deals, among other things, with the challenges Gudhjem faces regarding traffic and parking during the summer period.
Another area of focus is the issue of “empty houses”, i.e. compliance with the residence requirement in Gudhjem and Melsted.
One group works with signage and the preservation of nature close to the town.
Museum Group
The Museum Group plans and organises temporary exhibitions and is responsible for maintaining the buildings and outdoor areas. It also coordinates staffing at the museum.
The local history archive is responsible for collecting and preserving objects, photographs and documents.
