Ahead you can also see “Kaffeslottet”, built in 1912 by coffee merchant Sahl. The building materials came from the former main railway station in Copenhagen.

Where the road bends, you will see the former fire station on your left. A little further ahead on the right is the path leading through the enchanting Holkarenden.

Holkarenden is a small rift valley. Holkadalen has been, and still is, used for summer parties and open-air theatre, among other things.

When Holkabroen (the bridge) and the road over Bokul were to be built in 1957, the town was deeply divided over the issue. The disagreement ran so deep that some people stopped greeting one another when they met.
The route continues under the bridge and straight ahead along Holkavej, where you get a view of Gudhjem spread across the sloping rock.
